In a remarkable ceremony during the 60th Jamhuri Day celebrations, President William Ruto honored a distinguished group of individuals, acknowledging their remarkable contributions to the nation. Among the notable recipients were nine Cabinet Secretaries and 11 Governors who stood out for their exemplary service.
The prestigious Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart (EGH) award was conferred upon CSs Peninah Malonza (EAC), Ezekiel Machogu (Education), Mithika Linturi (Agriculture), Davis Chirchir (Energy), Soipan Tuya (Environment Climate Change and Forestry), Zachariah Njeru (Water and Sanitation), Eliud Owalo (ICT), Rebecca Miano (Trade and Investment), and Susan Nakhumicha (Health).
The list extended to Governors Wavinya Ndeti, Jonathan Bii (Uasin Gishu), Hassan Abdi (Ibrahim Isiolo), Mohamed Khalif (Mandera), Johnson Sakaja (Nairobi), Susan Kihika (Nakuru), Gladys Wanga (Homa Bay), Kimani Wamatangu (Kiambu), Cecily Mbarire (Embu), Ahmed Abdullahi (Wajir), and Mohamud Mohamed Ali (Marsabit), all honored with the EGH award.
Top military figures also received recognition, with Chief of Defence Forces Generals Francis Ogola and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei both conferred the EGH award.
In addition, individuals such as Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo, Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, Majority and Minority leaders at the National Assembly Kimani Ichungwah and Opiyo Wandayi, and athlete Faith Kipyengon received accolades for their exemplary performances.
Eight individuals, including Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome, Nakuru Senator Tabitha Karanja Keroche, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission CEO Twalib Mbarak, and National Intelligence Service Director General Noordin Haji, were honored with the Moran of the Order of the Golden Heart award (MGH).
Deputy Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and Amin Mohamed Ibrahim were recipients of the Chief of the Order of the Burning Spare (CBS) award, alongside distinguished State Officials including PSs Jonathan Mueke (Agriculture), Raymond Omollo (Interior), Nixon Korir (Lands), Commissioner of Prisons John Kibaso, Archbishop Harrison Nganga, and Chairperson of Salaries and Remuneration Commission Lyn Mengich.
