The 23-year-old, employed as a cleaner at the Bandari Maritime Academy, allegedly drowned in a swimming pool under unclear circumstances, raising suspicions as a postmortem revealed four fractured ribs. The family contests the narrative, asserting that Arani was a proficient swimmer. Investigations are underway, shedding light on conflicting reports from his employer and the academy.

In a distressing turn of events in Mombasa, the Arani family is grappling with the mysterious death of Lameck Arani, who reportedly drowned in a swimming pool on November 30. The incident occurred just an hour after Arani concluded his duties as a cleaner at the Bandari Maritime Academy, where he was contracted by the Everdiva Company.

The family is now seeking justice, as a postmortem examination at the Coast General Mortuary unveiled a disturbing detail: Arani had suffered four fractured ribs on the right side of his torso during the alleged drowning. This revelation has left his loved ones perplexed, especially considering that Arani was described as an above-average swimmer, comfortable in the water.

According to sources we have, efforts to unravel the mystery involved reaching out to Everline Irungu, the director of Everdiva Company. Irungu, expressing astonishment at the situation, mentioned that Arani had left work at 3 pm, and the company was unaware of the circumstances leading to his demise. She suggested seeking clarification from the Bandari Maritime Academy.

However, Evans Oyieyo, the Corporate Director of Bandari Maritime Academy, informed our sources that Everdiva Company had organized transportation to take Arani to the hospital after the incident. The academy only became aware of the situation upon the delivery of Arani’s body to the Coast General Hospital.

Mvita Sub-County Police Commander Maxwell Agoro is overseeing the ongoing investigation and has ordered a further examination of the post-mortem report to shed light on the conflicting accounts surrounding Lameck Arani’s tragic and enigmatic death.
