Gachagua’s Bombshell: Blames Uhuru for JKIA Blackouts
Summary:
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua accuses the current JKIA power outages on a “fake” generator inherited from Uhuru Kenyatta’s government. Defending Murkomen, he calls for a new generator and likens Kenya’s recovery to a patient in ICU. Gachagua praises Ruto’s work ethic and assures ongoing progress.
In a surprising revelation at the Kimalel Goat Auction and Cultural Festival in Baringo County, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua stirred controversy by blaming the persistent power outages at JKIA on a “fake” generator inherited from the administration of former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Gachagua defended Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, who had been under fire for the blackouts. Dismissing calls for Murkomen’s resignation, Gachagua shifted the blame to the previous government, challenging the authenticity of the current generator in use.
Addressing the public, Gachagua said, “Huyu Kipchumba anajaribu… huyu Kipchumba ndie alinunua hiyo generator? Sasa Kipchumba tafuta generator yako uweke wacha na ile ya wale watu,” urging Murkomen to find an alternative generator and discard the allegedly faulty one.
The power outages occurred on August 25 and November 11, the latter lasting over 12 hours before full restoration. Murkomen, echoing Gachagua’s sentiments, also blamed the previous government for the challenges facing JKIA.
Amidst the criticism, Gachagua implored the public to refrain from attacking political leaders, emphasizing that the issues at hand were inherited. He called for patience, likening Kenya’s economic recovery to a patient in critical care at the ICU, stating that progress would take time.
In a show of support for Deputy President William Ruto, Gachagua praised his work ethic, describing him as ‘the ever-hardworking leader.’ He assured Kenyans that progress was underway and that the country was on the path to economic recovery. Gachagua’s reassurance aimed to instill confidence in the Ruto government’s efforts to address the nation’s challenges.
