Ngunyi Offers Guidance to Raila Amidst Shifting Political Tides

Summary:
In the aftermath of a meeting between former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, ex-President Uhuru Kenyatta, and Jubilee leaders, political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi provides insights. Ngunyi questions the sustainability of the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance, advising Raila to redirect his efforts toward rejuvenating the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party. He underscores that the purported collaboration with Uhuru may not be advantageous for Raila, stressing that the political landscape has transformed since the 2022 elections.

Mutahi Ngunyi, a political analyst, delivers a cautionary message to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in the wake of his recent meeting with ex-President Uhuru Kenyatta and Jubilee leaders. Ngunyi, expressing his perspectives on his X account, urges Raila to exercise caution in anticipating significant gains from Uhuru, particularly in light of the latter’s defeat by President William Ruto in the August 2022 polls.

On Twitter, Ngunyi boldly asserts that the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance has run its course, labeling it the “BIG CON of our political history.” He recommends that Raila shifts his focus towards reinvigorating his own political entity, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party. Ngunyi encapsulates his message to Raila and Uhuru with the phrase, “..Nothing Personal, JUST business,” while alleging that Uhuru and the Kikuyu community may be leveraging their alliance with Raila.

Ngunyi’s remarks emerge following Raila’s participation in Uhuru’s meeting, where discussions unfolded with select Jubilee leaders, including blogger Pauline Njoroge. The meeting coincided with reports suggesting that Uhuru, alongside Martha Karua and Eugene Wamalwa, rejected the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO), a decision conflicting with the endorsement by Raila and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

As Raila intensifies the ODM recruitment drive across various counties, gearing up for the April 2024 party polls and maintaining momentum for the 2027 elections, Ngunyi underscores the importance of acknowledging the significance of Raila’s efforts to revitalize the ODM party. While political experts analyze the evolving landscape, Ngunyi’s advice to prioritize party building reflects the nuanced dynamics in Kenya’s political arena.
